Broadbrook students and staff honored with limerick prizes and Crystal Apple awards

The board paused its business to recognize student and staff accomplishments. Melissa Maltessie from the parks and recreation department introduced winners of the townwide limerick contest; students Emily Juttle and Avery Colbeach read their limericks for the board and received prizes and display placement at the community center and Broadbrook Elementary.
The board also presented Crystal Apple awards to three staff members. Broadbrook administrators introduced Selena Anderson as a behavior technician and highlighted her work supporting vulnerable learners and contributing to the school's multi-tiered behavioral systems. Middle- and high-school recipients were recognized for long-term service and for building successful special-education and restorative programming; Heather Sodell was singled out for her work in the Discovery program and state-level climate committees.
Photos and certificates were offered and the board invited winners and recipients to be acknowledged publicly at upcoming town celebrations.
