Hinckley read an email from applicant Jeff Tardiff asking the board to “continue the public hearing for application for 98 Thornton Drive to the August 6 meeting” and to grant a 35‑day extension if that meeting does not take place. A commissioner moved to continue, another commissioner seconded, and a voice vote carried the motion with all present voting in favor.
The petition (ZBA‑26‑298) requests variances under section 4.5 table A of the Newington zoning regulations to reduce a west‑side setback and a front‑yard setback to allow a second‑story addition and bay window. The continuance preserves the applicant’s request and the option to record the requested extension if the August meeting cannot be held.
The hearing will resume Aug. 6, when the board will take further testimony, deliberate and may vote on the requested variances.
