At its July 14, 2025 meeting in the OSD Innovation Center, the Oregon School District Board approved a set of actions including the 2025-2026 academic standards, a change to the employee handbook, and the District Administrator's contract for 2025—2027.
The board voted unanimously, 6-0, to adopt the 2025-26 academic standards in mathematics, science, reading and writing, geography and history and directed the administration to incorporate the Board-approved list into parent/guardian notice consistent with section 120.13(13)(b) of state statutes. The motion was made by Dr. Mary Lokuta and seconded by Ahna Bizjak.
The board also approved the 2025-2026 Employee Handbook. The handbook as adopted moves one day from sick leave to personal leave for regular school-year staff who do not have vacation hours; the handbook was presented to the board by Jina Jonen. That motion passed by roll call, 6-0.
After meeting items in closed session pursuant to Wis. Stat. §19.85(1)(c) and (e), the board returned to open session and approved the District Administrator's contract for the 2025—2027 school years. The transcript records the board's formal approval but does not specify the District Administrator's name in the published minutes. The motion to approve the contract was passed by roll call, 6-0.
Earlier in the meeting the board approved the Consent Calendar, which included payments totaling $3,007,808.13, the Treasurer's Report ending May 31, 2025, staff resignations and retirements, multiple staffing assignments and numerous donations and sponsorships for district programs and activities. The board thanked retirees Cheryl Stout and Kristine Jacoby-Rittenhouse for their service.
Board procedural matters included approval of the posted agenda and a change to the Superintendent's Report format (student highlights at the start of meetings and district highlights at the end); Superintendent Dr. Leslie Bergstrom noted the report is available on the district website. The meeting moved into closed session at 7:27 PM for collective bargaining and personnel matters and adjourned at 9:03 PM.
