Council introduces cooperative agreements for Kingdom Center, First Street School and a short-term lease; public hearings set

The DeRidder City Council introduced three separate ordinances to authorize cooperative-endeavor agreements and a short-term lease for city-owned properties and scheduled public hearings for Monday, June 23, 2025.
One ordinance would authorize a cooperative endeavor agreement with the Kingdom Center, a Louisiana nonprofit, to provide youth and community programming at a building identified in the text (68 High School Drive). The proposed CA is written to be retroactive to June 1, 2025, and terminate June 1, 2027.
A second ordinance would authorize an active lease with Dr. Anderson (doing business as Father’s Chair) for certain portions of the Kingdom Center building; the lease term is July 1, 2025–July 1, 2026. The draft ordinance references an attached exhibit A for lease terms.
A third ordinance would authorize a cooperative endeavor agreement with a local chapter of the ECDGA (identified in the meeting as Kathy Brewer and the ECDGA/global alliance) to lease Room 12 at First Street School for patient-support services for people affected by a rare blood disorder; the term was proposed as July 1, 2025–July 1, 2026.
Each ordinance was introduced formally by motion, received a second, and the clerk recorded roll-call approval to set a public hearing on June 23, 2025. No final contract terms were approved in the introductions; the council will consider each item at its public-hearing date.
