Town of Union approves higher senior program fees, pool camera upgrades and RecDesk subscription

The Town of Union Board on Sept. 3 approved several Parks & Recreation measures: an increase in indoor senior pickleball and volleyball fees, an award for pool security camera upgrades at Highland Park Pool, and purchase of a RecDesk registration and scheduling subscription.

Parks & Recreation Chair David Kudgus presented a resolution to raise program fees to $25 per month for residents and $30 per month for non-residents (the resolution included six-month breakdowns and per-day/per-hour cost calculations). The board adopted the fee change unanimously.

The board also approved awarding the camera upgrade work at Highland Park Pool to Sentry Alarms for $12,525 as the phase-one start of a park security network; the minutes list competing quotes from TrueView ($15,654.80) and Alert Alarms ($9,456.48). The resolution records this as part of a multi-phase effort to add cameras to the concession stand and recreation center in subsequent phases.

Finally, the Parks Department was authorized to implement RecDesk (annual subscription $5,800) to streamline program registration, roster building, league management and facility scheduling; CivicPlus was included as an alternate quote (first-year $14,465, recurring $11,360). The minutes state the update process would start in 2025 with the site officially going live in early 2026.

All three park-related measures passed on unanimous votes. The minutes do not record direct public opposition. Implementation timelines: the RecDesk rollout is planned for early 2026; camera work is described as phased, with phase one starting at the pool.
