Council introduces three ordinances — pool management, sanitation code updates and veterans services agreement — hearings set for March 24

The DeRidder City Council on March 10 introduced three ordinances and scheduled public hearings for March 24, 2025.
An ordinance authorizing the mayor to enter an aquatic management agreement with Pool Management LLC (DBA Pool Management) was introduced for operation of the West Park pool from May 24 through Sept. 1, 2025. The draft contract holds the city harmless for injuries and property loss and incorporates an attached exhibit describing contract terms. The council voted to introduce the ordinance and set a public hearing.
A second ordinance would repeal and replace Chapter 7, Article 2 of the city code to update health and sanitation rules and penalties related to stored or abandoned motor vehicles, parts and appliances. The council approved introduction and set the hearing date.
A third ordinance would authorize a cooperative agreement with the parish police jury and the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs (LDVA) to support local veteran service offices. The draft cites La. Stat. §2926.262 and states the city's contribution to LDVA would be $2,885, as specified in the attached exhibit. Council approved introduction and scheduled the hearing.
None of the three ordinances were adopted at the March 10 meeting; each was introduced and a public hearing was scheduled for March 24, 2025.
