DeRidder council adopts youth-sports use of West Park and a lease for Kingdom Institute

DeRidder — On Feb. 24 the City Council adopted two separate ordinances with limited discussion and no public comment.
First, the council authorized a cooperative endeavor agreement with 'dter baseball and softball Inc' to use part of West Park for youth recreation from March 1, 2025 through July 15, 2025. Mr. Daron attended to answer questions; the ordinance was adopted on a recorded affirmative vote.
Second, the council adopted an ordinance authorizing the mayor to enter a lease/cooperative endeavor agreement with Kingdom Institute of Biblical Studies LLC to occupy office space and operate at the premises described in the ordinance. Staff (including Mr. Landry and Miss Janet Bailey) answered council questions; the ordinance passed on recorded affirmative votes.
The meeting record does not include detailed contract terms, rent amounts or length of the Kingdom Institute lease; those will be included in the executed agreements.
