Town OKs Chevy Blazer EV purchase with NYSERDA reimbursement, accepts roof bid schedule and approves summer hire

At the June 4 meeting the Town of Union Board approved a set of operational items including capital procurement, budget transfers and personnel actions.

The Capital Projects & Public Works committee authorized the receipt of bids for the Highland Park Recreation Center roof replacement; bids will be accepted at the Town Clerk’s office until July 10, 2025. The board also adopted a resolution to purchase a 2025 Chevy Blazer LT EV from Maguire Motors under OGS Contract #PC68973SSB for a purchase price of $51,604.43 plus an EV charger for $2,100, for a total of $53,704.43. The minutes note that monies for this purchase will be reimbursed by a NYSERDA grant.

Finance approved two budget transfers recorded in the minutes: $441 moved from Site Improvements (40‑7110‑4624) to Signage (40‑7110‑4147) for Parks, and $17,550 moved from Salary Base (10‑1110‑1010) to Temporary Salaries (10‑1110‑1030) in the Justice Department to cover a part‑time bailiff position for the remainder of 2025.

The Board approved hiring Joseph Augostini as a summer part‑time clerk in the Comptroller’s Office at $14.25 per hour for approximately 25 hours per week for about 10 weeks pending pre‑employment testing; Councilman Thomas R. Augostini recorded an abstention on that motion. The motion carried.
