Hackberry Elementary School Board approves broad package of personnel and administrative policy advisories
Summary
The Hackberry Elementary School District #3 governing board on June 22 approved deletion, revision or adoption of a broad set of policy advisories (Nos. 961–986; 987–992; 1003–1007; 1008–1019; 1020–1023; 1032–1044; and 1045) in a series of 4-0 votes and retained existing language for Nos. 993–1002; Policy 1046 was tabled to July 14.
The Hackberry Elementary School District #3 governing board approved a large package of personnel and administrative policy advisories at a special meeting on June 22, 2026.
On a series of motions during the New Business portion of the meeting, board members moved to delete, adopt or revise grouped advisories covering personnel policies, staff ethics, employee conduct, leave types, evaluations, and related regulations and exhibits. The motions were moved and seconded by board members and passed unanimously (4-0) for the grouped sets identified on the agenda.
Pam Adams moved the motion to approve Policy Advisory Nos. 961–986 (deletions, revisions and new advisories) with a second from Valerie Grimes; the motion passed 4-0. Subsequent grouped motions approved advisories in the following ranges: Nos. 987–992; Nos. 1003–1007; Nos. 1008–1019; and Nos. 1032–1044. The board also approved Policy Advisory No. 1045 (ECAC — Vandalism and Reporting Suspected Crimes) by motion and vote.
The board voted not to approve the deletions proposed for Policy Advisories Nos. 993–1002 and therefore retained the district’s existing language for those advisories. The clerk’s agenda packet and the board’s motions identified multiple new regulations and exhibits accompanying several advisories (for example, new regulations and exhibits accompanying GBEA, GBGA, GCCA and GCO series advisories).
Board members who recorded motions on the transcript included Pam Adams, Valerie Grimes and Tammy Herrera; the roll call recorded Leanne Donason as present and participating. All recorded policy motions carried by a 4-0 tally (yes votes from Leanne Donason, Pam Adams, Tammy Herrera and Valerie Grimes). No recorded abstentions or no votes were recorded in the meeting transcript.
Policy Advisory No. 1046 (IHAL — Teaching About Religion) was not approved; the board voted 4-0 to table consideration of No. 1046 to the second reading scheduled for the July 14, 2026 meeting. The board announced that the agenda for that meeting will be posted on the district bulletin board and the district website.
The motions taken on June 22 update the district’s personnel and administrative policy packet; specific regulatory text and exhibit language referenced in the agenda will be available in the district’s posted meeting materials and the next packet for the July 14 meeting.
