Urban renewal agency will include advisory commission in district 'sunset' planning

La Grande — The urban renewal agency and city staff agreed to proceed with a consultant‑led urban renewal district sunset planning process and to hold joint work sessions with the Urban Renewal Advisory Commission (URAC).
Staff explained the scope of work includes reviewing the original urban renewal plan, evaluating whether prior goals have been met, and recommending strategies for the district’s remaining term (estimated maximum indebtedness through about 2031). Staff asked the agency to hold open the two dates set for substantive workshops (Oct. 19 and Jan. 4) and confirmed that consultant meetings would be joint work sessions including URAC.
A motion to include URAC as an active partner in the sunset planning process and to hold consultant meetings as joint work sessions was moved and seconded and carried in agency action.
What’s next: Staff will circulate the consultant scope of work and coordinate schedules for October and January work sessions; the consultant is a co-author of the statewide guidance staff provided to the agency.
