Premier Lakes reports algae and noise fixes; board delays Lake E4-A plantings pending Edgewater agreement

At the July 23 meeting, Bill Kurth of Premier Lakes told the River Ridge board that lakes, preserves and dry retention areas are generally in good condition but algae growth has been observed this time of year and routine maintenance is ongoing. Kurth reported a cabinet was installed around the compressor at Masters Lake and that measured sound levels decreased from 64 to 52 decibels at the halfway point between the compressor and the screen line.
Operations Manager Shane Willis said the issue is not only decibel level but the tonal quality of the aerator and that the team will consider moving the compressor. Mr. Willis and the Kurths will coordinate to explore relocating the compressor and will report findings at the next meeting.
Supervisor Bob Schultz summarized flooding concerns in Edgewater, proposed installing piping, littorals on Lake E4-A and rip-rap, and recommended meeting with Tim Wilkin at Edgewater to seek a mutually acceptable solution. The board reached consensus to delay planting in Lake E4-A until agreement is reached with the Edgewater Association; staff will hold the planting proposal and resubmit it later.
Premier Lakes left the call after its update; Mr. Willis later presented the annual quality assurance audit for lake maintenance, reporting higher water levels this season, no compliance issues with dry retention areas, and overall improvement in lake conditions under Premier Lakes’ maintenance.
