Waynetown to use pay‑per‑use Franciscan Working Well for employee drug testing

The Waynetown Town Council voted Sept. 10 to move forward with Franciscan Working Well for employee drug and alcohol testing after a presentation by Alex Heaton.
Heaton told the council Franciscan Working Well offers urine, hair and saliva screening for more than 300 Indiana companies and that the town would not be charged an annual contract fee: "the Town would not pay an annual contract amount, we will only pay for what we use," he said. Heaton cited an 11 e‑cup test price of $45 and DOT testing at $55, and explained the differences between random testing and testing based on reasonable suspicion.
Councilmember Barry Lewis moved to adopt Franciscan Working Well for testing; Aaron Benge seconded and the motion passed 5‑0. Town staff will return with a recommended list of which tests to use and which town officials will be authorized to order testing.
