Buford Commission approves consent items including insurance renewal, street-abandonment inquiry and community events

At its Feb. 3 meeting the Buford City Commission approved a bundle of routine and administrative items by voice vote (3-0).
Actions included renewal of the city's workers' compensation policy with Summit Insurance Company for 2025–2026; authorization for staff to investigate the potential abandonment of a portion of South Garnett Street (from E. Moreno Street to E. Park Street) and to follow State of Georgia statutory procedures including notice to adjoining property owners if appropriate; approval of the City of Buford 2025–2026 theatrical season, concerts and performances at the Buford Community Center; authorization for the chairman to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the City Council of Rest Haven to transfer SPLOST monies for a stormwater project; approval to list surplus items on Govdeals.com and other markets; and approval of landscape care bids for city and school properties.
All of those motions passed unanimously, and staff and the Planning Director were given authority to proceed with follow-up work where required.
