Fraser recognizes teachers and students; Richards Middle School reviews PBIS; NTHS highlights Cards of Care

The board honored district Teacher of the Year winners and student music awardees, heard that Richards Middle School is shifting its PBIS program to a more proactive model, and received a student presentation on the NTHS Cards of Care service project.
At the May 8 meeting the board recognized district Teacher of the Year winners and student music awardees. The minutes list Elizabeth Schmidt as Elementary Teacher of the Year, Wendy Murray as Middle School Teacher of the Year and Leesa Wright as High School Teacher of the Year. Fraser High School students recognized for music were Natalie Watson (vocal) and Michael Domenicucci (instrumental).
Richards Middle School presenters Mr. Julian and Mrs. Skladanowski described updates to the school’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program. They said staff reviewed last year’s data, made changes this year to be more proactive than reactive, and will continue to refine the program next year.
NTHS/Be Nice Club students Taylor Dubay and Yostena Akladyous presented their Cards of Care initiative, coordinating valentines across district buildings to distribute to area assisted-living facilities as a service project.
