Fraser High School to change final-exam scheduling and grading for 2023–24

Superintendent Carrie Wozniak told trustees at the May 8 meeting that Fraser High School will change how final exams are scheduled and counted beginning in the 2023–24 school year.
Wozniak said there will no longer be designated days for final exams; instead, teachers will have flexibility to schedule finals on days that best fit their courses. She said the district’s intent is to allow students an opportunity to see final-exam results before the following semester or school year.
Wozniak also described a grading change: finals will be calculated as part of the competency grade, which the minutes list as 70% of the final grade, with the remaining 30% accounted for by practice work. The minutes present these as the district’s planned calculations for the upcoming year.
The board did not vote on this change at the May 8 meeting; this item was presented as an update in the superintendent’s report.
