Buford adopts ordinance to regulate vape shops and tightens parking-lot lighting shielding

The Buford City Commission voted 3–0 to amend the City of Buford Zoning Ordinance (Article III) to provide definitions and regulations for vape shops and to amend the City of Buford Development Regulations, Article 6, Section 6.5.6, concerning shielding of parking-lot lighting.
Vice-Chairman Chris Burge moved to approve the zoning text amendment and Commissioner Bradley W. Weeks seconded the motion; the vote was unanimous. Chairman Phillip Beard declared the public hearing portion of the meeting concluded before the vote.
The amendments add zoning definitions and spacing/operational regulation for vape shops and require shielding standards for parking-lot lighting intended to reduce glare and spillover onto neighboring properties. The ordinance and development regulation changes are effective as adopted and will be enforced through the city’s development-review process.
