City Manager Roy Atkinson told the Chelsea City Council on Nov. 7 that City Attorney Peter Flintoft will retire in the near future and that Atkinson plans to issue a request for proposals to solicit a successor.
Atkinson said he had met several times with Flintoft and highlighted a 60-day provision in the attorney’s contract that will guide the succession timeline. Peter Flintoft was present at the meeting; Mayor Jane Pacheco and Council Member Bill Ruddock thanked Flintoft for his years of service to the city.
Atkinson said the city will draft an RFP for incoming legal counsel and manage the transition to ensure continuity of services. No formal action or vote on a contract termination or immediate appointment was taken at the meeting. The council proceeded to other business after the discussion.
