Chelsea’s council approved a Letter of Intent with Sylvan Township on March 6 to examine interconnecting water systems and joint use of pipes, lines, wells and fixtures. The agreement authorizes exploratory study only; no construction or acquisition decisions were made.
Council Member Peter Feeney moved the item and Bill Ruddock seconded; the motion passed unanimously. City staff described months of prior conversation and renewed dialogue leading to the LOI.
Public Works will coordinate a technical interconnect study with Sylvan Township and report back to council; subsequent decisions on any interconnection, equipment use or building installation would require further council action and likely funding approvals.
