Chelsea mayor named council representative to Public Safety Strategic Planning Group

Chelsea City Council on Sept. 6 appointed Mayor Jane Pacheco as the council's representative to the Community Public Safety Strategic Planning Group created following the Community Public Safety Task Force report.
The SPG was formed to carry forward longer-term recommendations in the task force’s June report. Councilmember Peter Feeney moved the appointment and Mayor Pro-Tem Tony Iannelli seconded; the motion carried by voice vote (recorded as "All Ayes").
Mayor Jane Pacheco said she was willing to serve as the council representative. Council members noted the group will meet with the newly hired police chief and potential subject-matter experts before setting formal term lengths; the task force had originally estimated work could span one to three years.
The council also discussed public access to upcoming Police Chief candidate interviews and a public meet-and-greet, after a resident requested more details. Council members said they want the Strategic Planning Group to have an opportunity to participate in candidate meet-and-greets where feasible.
