Whately Elementary plans volunteer garden build April 18 with local farmer support

The school scheduled a volunteer installation day for Saturday, April 18, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., when students and farmers will prepare and install several 4-by-8-foot raised beds. Carter said the school and commission discussed design and material options, and raised ways to improve accessibility for children with disabilities.
The commission discussed contributions from members and local farmers but took no formal funding vote. The event is planned as a hands-on community activity to prepare garden beds for use during the coming growing season.
