City Manager Roy Atkinson provided multiple staff updates at the March 20 Chelsea City Council meeting. He called attention to a Washtenaw County Health Department survey on social media, said Chelsea is being designated a Pure Michigan Trail Town and thanked Adrianna Jordan for the application work. Atkinson reported on the Timbertown project status, the Michigan Downtown Association Spring Workshop, and announced an Economic Development Town Hall on April 23, 2023. He also said he had extended an offer to a candidate for the finance director position and updated the council on the audit and month-end numbers.
Police Chief Kazyak presented the February calls-for-service report, credited the dispatch office for its handling of recent winter storms, and noted staffing changes, including a new hire who will attend the next council meeting. Kazyak and Manager Atkinson plan to host a public coffee at Zou Zou's on Thursday, April 13 at 9:00 a.m. where residents can ask questions.
Councilmember Kate Mehuron reported Parks & Recreation Commission activities including a dog-park work session and Earth Day participation; Pathways to Renewal met with Jeff Hardcastle of B2B about sculpture renovation and drainage. Councilmember Peter Feeney attended a WAVE meeting and noted the Chelsea Area Fire Authority will discuss a memorandum of understanding and a millage renewal. Councilmember Eric Keaton discussed SRSLY, a Boy Scout meeting, and an upcoming SEMCOG meeting; Mayor Pro-Tem Tony Iannelli moderated Congresswoman Debbie Dingell's town hall and will meet with the Western Washtenaw Recycling Authority.
