The West Allis Plan Commission approved a site change for QuickTrip at 10923 W. Lapham to add electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
Staff member Jack said QuickTrip proposes four charging points (two dispensers with two ports each) in a roughly 5,100-sq.-ft. paved area with a future transformer pad to support the chargers; he said the store’s hours will remain 24/7 and the applicant targeted a November 1 opening. Jack added that the plan includes 12 staging/parking spaces (eight staging spaces above and four charging stalls) and that runoff from the new pavement would be handled by an existing retention pond.
On lighting and site impacts, Jack said two 19-foot pole fixtures will be installed and that the design directs light downward; staff requested an updated landscaping plan, a stormwater checklist and port/charger dimensions to confirm accessibility compliance. Commissioners asked whether chargers would accommodate all electric vehicles and whether there were conflicts with the nearby fire station; Jack and the applicant confirmed the chargers will serve all EVs and reported no known issues with fire service access.
After questions, the commission moved and voted to approve the QuickTrip site landscaping and architectural changes to add EV charging; staff conditions require the landscaping plan, stormwater checklist and charger dimensions for accessibility review before final approval steps.
