Clearlake Oaks County Water Company proposes 25.6% rate hike; public hearing set under Prop 218

ERTH members were told a public hearing is scheduled for June 18 at 10 a.m. at the water company offices. Under Proposition 218 rules, written protests bearing a name, address, opposition statement and signature must be submitted to the water company before the hearing; oral comments alone do not qualify. If more than 50% plus one of affected parcels protest in writing, the proposed rate increase will not pass.
Why this matters: the proposed increase would raise household bills substantially over the next several years if adopted, and the public hearing process under Prop 218 requires written protests to block the increase.
