Monroe council approves airport, runway and drainage projects in multi-resolution package

The Monroe City Council on Sept. 23 approved a series of resolutions to advance airport capital projects and Phase II drainage improvements for Monroe Regional Airport and the MLU drainage program.
The council unanimously adopted Resolution No. 9005, approving the Monroe Regional Airport's five-year Airport Capital Improvement Plan, and approved Resolutions No. 9006, 9007, 9008 and 9009 to enter agreements with the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development for airfield lighting rehabilitation (Phase II), a loading bridge replacement, runway 14/32 and 4/22 intersection rehabilitation, and runway 14/32 extension Phase III, respectively.
Mrs. Ezernack specifically thanked Airport Director Charles Butcher and his team for continuing to improve and expand the airport.
On drainage, the council approved Modification No. 1 to Work Authorization No. 13 with Garver, LLC, Change Order No. 2, and an FAA reimbursable agreement modification related to MLU Drainage Improvements ' Phase II (Resolutions No. 9010'12). City Engineer Morgan McCallister corrected a previously reported purchase amount for wetland mitigation credits: the correct total is $1,483,016.50, not the earlier figure reported as more than $2.1 million, and he said the cost will be reimbursable and returned to the City within a couple of months.
All items were approved unanimously. The approved agreements enable state-funded work and modifications tied to airport and drainage infrastructure; staff will proceed with the contract and reimbursement processes outlined in the resolutions.
