Council proclaims Child Abuse Prevention Month, honors school team and names new council-on-aging director

The Iberville Parish Council issued a proclamation declaring April 2026 as Child Abuse Prevention Month for the 18th Judicial District and received remarks from Kendall Abe, who identified themself as executive director of CASA of the 18th JDC and said, “we currently are serving 37 children across our three parishes.” Abe thanked parish leadership and volunteers and urged continued community support for the nonprofit’s court-appointed volunteer advocacy.
Earlier in the meeting the council presented a resolution recognizing Eastville High School’s boys basketball program for advancing to the 2026 Louisiana High School Athletic Association playoff finals, cited a season record the proclamation described as 27 wins and eight losses, and invited the coach and team forward for recognition.
The council also introduced Joshua Gerard Johnson, who said he will serve as director of the council on aging and invited council members to visit parish centers and provide input on future programming. The meeting included additional congratulatory remarks for a 10-year parish employee working at the visitors center.
