Iberville Parish Council approves surplus property sale, several resolutions and subdivision requests; battery-storage ordinance set for May hearing

At its April 21 meeting the Iberville Parish Council approved an ordinance declaring property surplus and selling it to a neighbor, approved three resolutions (drinking-water loan application, flood-control pre-application and natural-gas purchasing authority), and approved several subdivision requests; the council also set two ordinances — including an amendment to add battery energy storage systems to the unified development code — for public hearing on May 19.
The Iberville Parish Council held multiple formal actions on April 21. The council adopted an ordinance declaring specified property surplus and authorizing sale to an adjacent owner; the motion was made by Mr. Bradford and seconded by Mr. Markens, and the roll-call vote carried.
Council introduced two ordinances for public hearing on May 19: (1) a separate surplus-property declaration (Ordinance No. 002-13) and (2) an amendment to the parish unified development code to add Article 7, Division F, covering battery energy storage systems in unincorporated areas. Both ordinances were set for public hearing; the battery storage introduction recorded several dissenting votes but was scheduled for the May 19 hearing.
The council approved three resolutions out of the committee: authorization to prepare and submit a drinking water revolving loan fund application; authorization to submit a pre-application to the statewide flood control program seeking assistance to mitigate existing flood damage; and authorization to purchase natural gas through the Louisiana Municipal Natural Gas Purchasing and Distribution Authority. Roll-call votes were recorded and the motions carried.
The council also approved planning-commission recommendations for subdivision/re-subdivision requests, including parcel divisions of 177 acres into four lots and 93 acres into three lots; motions carried on roll-call votes.
No new ordinances were adopted at this meeting; for items set for public hearing, the council will take public comment on May 19 prior to any final action.
