Fredonia Central School District elects Stephen Johnson president, names vice president and committee assignments

The Fredonia Central School District Board of Education completed its annual reorganization July 1, electing Stephen Johnson as board president and approving a slate of officers and committee assignments.
The superintendent, who presided while no board president or vice president yet served, opened nominations and the board moved to approve Stephen Johnson as president after a nomination, second and a voice vote recorded as “All in favor.” The board then nominated and approved (by voice vote) Miss Starky High as vice president for 2026. The board also approved a motion authorizing the vice president to act on behalf of the president in the president’s absence.
The board appointed Kate Heides Morrison as district clerk for the meeting to fill the immediate clerical need while the district’s permanent clerk position remained unfilled. Trustees then assigned members to three standing committees — audit, policy and facilities — and noted an initial audit-committee preview meeting scheduled for July 14 at 5:00 p.m. in the district office.
Board members and the superintendent emphasized orderly transition and expressed appreciation for returning trustees and welcome to new members. No roll-call vote totals were recorded in the transcript; each motion was approved by voice vote with no opposition announced.
