Andrew Roiberg and Aaron Schmitmeyer presented conceptual drawings Oct. 27 asking the Council of the Village of New Bremen to reconfigure playing fields and improve safety features at Bremenfest Park.
The visitors asked the council to convert Diamond No. 3 into a junior-high diamond, split Diamond No. 4 into two smaller diamonds for sixth-grade and younger players, and replace fencing and dugouts across the complex. Council members requested an engineer’s estimate on the proposed changes by Nov. 14 so the items can be considered for the village’s 2026 budget.
Village Administrator Richter told the council the Cardinal Recreation Club will conduct fundraising to help support the park improvements, and Council members did not take a formal vote on funding at the meeting. The council added the Bremenfest Park discussion to the consent agenda for consideration during the 2026 budget process.
Next steps: council staff must obtain the engineer’s estimate by the Nov. 14 deadline; if submitted, the estimate and any proposed funding plan will be reviewed during budget deliberations next year.
