Browerville board adopts READ Act literacy plan, affirms Read Well By Third Grade for 2026–27

Patrick Sutlief, K‑12 principal for Browerville Public School District, told the board on June 29 that the district submitted its Minnesota READ Act literacy plan and Read Well By Third Grade materials (due June 16) and recommended board approval for the 2026–27 school year.
The board approved the literacy plan in a motion by Keith Noska, seconded by Marty Host, that carried during the meeting. Sutlief said K–6 classroom teachers, special education and Title I teachers completed LETRS training in 2025–26 and that paraprofessionals participated in related training; he noted that new teachers and some paraprofessionals still need to complete required training. Sutlief also identified Phase II staff for ELA and EL as C. Wyatt, S. Eckel and B. Evenson.
The district will bring related Comprehensive Achievement and Civic Readiness (formerly World’s Best Workforce) updates to the August board meeting. The board record shows the motion to adopt the literacy plan was approved without a roll‑call tally recorded in the minutes.
The district referenced the Minnesota Department of Education READ Act resources in its report and listed Read Well By Third Grade as the district’s approach for early‑reading development in 2026–27.
