New Bremen council notes street reconstruction timing, hears EMS safety concern and a judicial candidate's announcement

During its Sept. 29 meeting, the New Bremen council received a Village Administrator update, public comment on emergency response safety, and several first readings of nonbinding items.
Village Administrator Richter said the Vine and Park Street reconstruction project was slightly behind schedule; driveway approaches were planned for Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, with paving scheduled for the week of Oct. 13.
Resident Stephanie Harrod, who said she has lived on N Walnut St for 17 years, told council she was concerned that EMS volunteers responding to calls drive in ways that do not follow ordinary traffic laws and asked that responding crews use flashing lights and horn when responding; she also raised safety concerns for people using a canal path near fast-moving vehicles and noted an active bus stop at Walnut and Second. The council said it would share concerns with EMS and consider additional signage.
Kristina Morris addressed the council to announce her candidacy for Auglaize County Common Pleas Court Judge in the Republican primary on May 5, 2026; the minutes record her local background and legal experience.
Council received a summary of the Auglaize County Solid Waste Management District plan update and held First Reading of Resolution 2025-09-15 to adopt the update. The council also held First Reading of Ordinance 2025-009-19 establishing a Drug Law Enforcement Fund policy as required by the Ohio Revised Code; the policy was introduced but not voted upon.
Later the council entered an executive session at 6:59 p.m. to discuss personnel matters and returned at 7:32 p.m.; minutes record no action taken. The meeting adjourned at 7:33 p.m.
