Wayne board approves agenda, hears facilities update and announces several hires

The Wayne Township Board of Education on June 25 approved its meeting agenda unanimously and received committee reports on facilities, transportation and policy matters, while announcing several personnel hires.
During committee reports, members said partial roof-replacement work and interior alterations (including an elevator lobby project) remain on schedule, and new public-address systems have been installed at Lafayette and Wayne Hills High School. Facilities staff and administrators reviewed rough estimates for district-wide project bond improvements and prioritized projects across buildings. The transportation update said end-of-summer bus routes are prepared, bus passes were distributed, some summer driver retention challenges persist and an online auction of retired vehicles is scheduled for July 11–14. The district is waiting for funds to free up to place new bus orders.
The board also noted policy committee work to align district policies with state changes, updates to curriculum and textbook approvals, and routine budget transfers and hiring activity for the coming school year.
On personnel, the board announced the hire of a physics teacher (name read into the record as Charles Dunn), appointed Mina Khaled as principal for Kakanak Elementary School and approved Christopher Abalo as assistant superintendent for human resources and professional development.
