Planning commission recommends zoning map change for Creswold Phase 2

The Warrington Township Planning Commission voted to recommend that the Board of Supervisors adopt a zoning map amendment for Creswold Phase 2 at Easton and Oakfield Road.

The commission’s Chair said the referral comes under the municipality’s planning code; the amendment would change the parcel’s zoning designation from Business (BZ) to the Corridor Overlay District, which the Chair said permits townhouse-style housing where BZ generally does not. The commission voted by voice to recommend passage.

An applicant representative told the commission the proposal is intended to integrate development on both sides of Route 611, provide consistency with earlier conversations and add traffic-calming elements. “They have some traffic-calming effects too,” the presenter said, and added that neighbors preferred not to have commercial property immediately abutting residential areas.

The Chair invited public comment on the specific item; no members of the public spoke on the map amendment. After a brief procedural exchange the Chair made the motion to recommend the ordinance and it was seconded and approved by voice vote. The commission’s action is advisory: the Board of Supervisors will make the final decision.

Also on the agenda, the commission approved the minutes from its June 4 meeting by voice vote.
