Jennifer Sharkey, Steuben County Highway Engineer, asked the council to approve the county’s internal application for the state Community Crossings grant. The application covers seven county projects totaling $845,000; Sharkey told the council the grant is structured 50% state funds and 50% local funds and proposed using Fund #1229 LOIT Special Distribution to pay the county’s local match.
Sharkey said the county commissioners had already approved the grant request. The seven projects listed in the minutes are: CR 200 W from CR 100 N to CR 200 N; CR 200 W from CR 200 N to CR 275 N; CR 100 E from CR 200 N south to the Angola city limits; Orland Rd from CR 200 W to CR 300 W; CR 100 N from CR 200 W south to Angola city limits; CR 100 N from CR 200 W to Landis Road; and Old SR 27 from Angola city limits to CR 800 S.
Linda Hansen moved to approve the request and Jim Getz seconded; the motion carried with six ayes. The highway department will proceed with grant submittal and budget the local match from Fund #1229 as recorded in the minutes.
