New Bremen council approves consent agenda; staff present several administrative items for further readings

The Village of New Bremen council approved the consent agenda at its Nov. 24 meeting, which included adoption of the meeting agenda, minutes from the Nov. 10 regular meeting and the finance report. Councilman Larger reported November expenditures of $471,756.99 and total receipts for October of $1,521,855.97; the finance committee reviewed bank reconciliations for October and noted monthly expenses were lower this month because of the timing of the AMP invoice.

Administrative items presented for further council action included a second reading (Resolution 2025‑11‑17) to accept a sole water‑plant salt bid from Artesian of Pioneer at $178 per ton (estimated annual usage about 675 tons) and a second reading (Resolution 2025‑11‑18) to reimburse Auglaize County $14,500 for exterior library signs installed during a 2024 renovation. The minutes list Attorney Jason This’s contract as a second reading (Ordinance 2025‑11‑25) to renew the solicitor contract for Jan. 2026–Dec. 2027 at $21,000 per year (current contract $20,000 annually). First readings included an ordinance to authorize sale of personal property on GovDeals.com and a proposed 3.50% wage increase for 2026 (First Reading Ordinance 2025‑11‑23).

Village Administrator Richter said the farm bid opening for the 90 acres on SR 274 is set for Dec. 4. Councilman Burnell asked about using beet juice as a preapplication instead of salt in winter; the minutes record the village does not have equipment to apply a liquid beet‑juice product. The meeting adjourned at 6:51 p.m. on a motion by Councilman Larger, seconded by Councilman Bertke (six ayes).
