At its May 6, 2026 meeting, the Lush Parish School Board approved a set of routine but substantive items spanning curriculum, communications and facilities.
The board approved the purchase of reading intervention materials aimed at supporting students who struggle with foundational reading skills; presenters clarified the purchase supplements skill instruction and does not replace the district's core ELA curriculum. The board also authorized a one‑year, pilot contract with HTV to produce six "Going Public" programs per year and 30‑second spots for digital distribution and metrics reporting, intended to showcase student achievements.
Finance staff reported the external audit contract with Eiser Amber LLC will be extended for fiscal years 2026 and 2027, with FY2026 audit services not to exceed $177,500 and a FY2027 increase capped at 3.5 percent. The board also approved a series of construction and change‑order items (lighting additions, HVAC renovations, elementary school project changes, canopy replacement and sanitary piping design) and awarded bids for child nutrition and janitorial supplies for the 2026–27 school year in accordance with procurement rules.
Board members moved quickly through many of these agenda items; motions carried by voice vote for most contracts and procurement approvals. The board set tentative future meeting dates, recognized retiring staff and closed the meeting.
