During its June 30 meeting the Solon Board of Education approved several personnel and operational items the superintendent and staff presented.
The board accepted listed resignations and moved to approve limited certified contracts for hires needed for the 2026–27 school year; presenters said internal staff elevations created openings such as an interventionist at Orchard. The board also approved supplemental and pupil-activity permit contracts for fall-sports coaching staff contingent on required permits and approved tuition reimbursements for employees that met district criteria.
On transportation, the board adopted a resolution declaring transportation to certain private schools impractical under Ohio law — a step that allows parents of listed students to apply for payment in lieu of transportation. The presenter explained factors considered under the Ohio Revised Code: time and distance, number of pupils, scheduling and cost.
The board approved certification for 47 district bus drivers and the presenter said recent salary-schedule changes improved recruitment; the presenter noted some retirements are expected mid-year and encouraged applicants for substitute drivers with paid training available.
All personnel and transportation motions were moved, seconded and approved by roll call during the meeting.
