Carencro schedules sewer-plant pre-bid and hears infrastructure updates on sidewalks, gas lines and parks

Carencro city staff told the council on April 21 that several public-works projects are moving forward and that the new sewer plant will be advertised for pre-bid on June 12, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.
Water Supervisor Buster Broussard said the sewer plant pre-bid schedule is set and that sidewalk work is progressing. He attributed recent brown-water complaints to the process of abandoning old water lines and reconnecting customers to new lines.
Mr. Purvis Morrison reported for Gas Supervisor Seth Darbonne that the Prejean relocation contractor is procuring materials and expected to mobilize the following week; the city-wide gas replacement final plans should be complete by the end of April and the project may be split into multiple construction packages depending on final cost estimates.
Engineering consultant CH Fenstermaker (Andy Sellers) told the council one more DOTD submittal remains for the TeeMa sidewalk project and that sewer lift station rebar installation details are under review. Sellers said the city plans a public meeting in May to discuss the Ira Street turn lane and related road closures; he also noted potential culvert work for the Walk On's turn lane.
Park and recreation updates included Pelican Park concrete work (about half poured) and upcoming improvements at Carencro Park. The city’s Sports Complex reported regular program use and 19 birthday rentals for the month.
Next steps: the sewer plant pre-bid date will begin procurement; engineering will schedule the public meeting about the Ira Street turn lane and return to the council with any revised cost estimates for the gas and sidewalk projects.
