Claiborne Parish School Board approves multiple policy updates tied to 2025 Louisiana law

The Claiborne Parish School Board at its Nov. 6 meeting in Haynesville unanimously approved a package of policy revisions Superintendent Brooks said were required by the 2025 Louisiana Legislature.
Superintendent Brooks requested adoption of revisions to GAAA (Equal Opportunity Employment), IDDFC (Cameras in Special Education Classrooms), JAA (Equal Education Opportunities) and JD (Discipline). Stewart Griffin moved to approve the changes and David Nokes seconded; the motion passed 9 yes, 0 no.
In a separate, related action, Mrs. Prior, the district's Special Education Supervisor, presented updated Seclusion and Restraint Policies and Procedures. Mrs. Prior told the board the policies had been in place but required updating to reflect recent laws. Linda Knox moved to adopt the seclusion and restraint updates; William Maddox seconded. The motion passed 9 yes, 0 no.
Board President Perry Anderson and Superintendent Brooks congratulated staff for implementing the changes and thanked those involved in preparing the revisions. The board did not attach conditions or amendments to the approvals at the meeting.
The policy approvals were recorded as motions in the meeting minutes; no votes against or abstentions were noted. The district will implement the revised policies as written and the board did not schedule further public hearings on these items at the Nov. 6 meeting.
