The Morrisville Town Council voted unanimously on July 22 to authorize financing not to exceed $22 million to acquire and renovate a public works facility at 125 International Drive.
Council Member Johnson had pulled item 6H from consent for questions. Byron Hayes, the town’s chief financial officer, told council the $22 million cap covers both acquisition and renovation; Hayes said, "This item allows us to not to exceed 22 million for both the acquisition as well as the renovation of the property." Council members noted the figure represents about an $8 million reduction from the earlier $30 million estimate tied to a different site and design.
Hayes and council clarified that approximately $10 million of the authorization is targeted for acquisition alone and that the town intends to retain its current property on Aviation Parkway for future use. Councilors praised staff for locating a less‑costly site and moved, seconded and approved the resolution without dissent.
What this means: The council action authorizes financing up to $22 million for the project; further project design and procurement steps will follow under the approved financing authorization.
