Members praised the school and the students; several councilors noted the renaming will improve clarity for visitors and emergency responders and will honor the school’s history. The resolution passed on a voice vote after remarks from multiple councilors and formal motioning.
Councilors asked city departments to transmit copies of the resolution to the school and related parties as listed in the resolution text.
