The Morrisville Town Council unanimously approved a resolution on July 8 setting rules and fees for the town’s new dog park, including an insurer‑recommended rule that children 12 and under are not permitted inside the fenced dog areas.
Cindy King, assistant director of parks, recreation and cultural resources, described recommended fees: $30 annual resident pass for one dog and $45 for up to two dogs; nonresident annual passes at $42 and $63 respectively; day passes $5 resident/$7 nonresident. King said the town will use a digital pass system through the town app (Active/MyParks) and will require owners to enter rabies vaccination information when purchasing passes. Public works director Jeffrey Brown confirmed cameras will be installed at gates to support security and pass validation.
Council members asked whether low‑income residents could be accommodated for fee assistance; staff said they had not yet developed a mechanism but would investigate options. Council also asked about how rabies proof is verified; staff said the purchase form records owner‑provided rabies vaccination numbers and expiration dates, and staff will run periodic checks rather than real‑time verification.
After brief discussion, Council Member Liz Johnson moved to adopt resolution 2025-234-0 establishing the dog‑park fees; the motion passed unanimously. Staff said passes and signage will be ready when the park opens and encouraged residents to visit.
