Penn Forest board accepts treasurer's report, ratifies repairs and purchases, tables transfer station ramp award

At its Sept. 2 meeting the Penn Forest Township Board of Supervisors accepted the Treasurer’s Report for August 2025, approved payment of the month’s bills, ratified several purchases, and took multiple procedural finance actions.
The Treasurer’s Report (Mauch Chunk Trust Company balances) recorded: Township General Fund $3,830,761.33; State Liquid Fuels Fund $282,611.20; Sanitation Fund $432,492.65; Payroll $1,492.97; Septic Fund $307,952.04; Debit Card $4,041.68; SALDO $28,694.93; Capital Reserve $381,130.81; Rent $90.77; Fire Escrow $0.00; TOTAL $5,269,268.38. Certificates of deposit listed three accounts (ending #1841: $3,937,706.49; #5851: $284,087.15; #1301: $2,205,307.88) for a CD total of $6,427,101.52 and TOTAL FUNDS ON DEPOSIT $11,696,369.90. The board accepted the Treasurer’s Report (motion by Meckes, second by Holland) on recorded roll call.
On procurement and equipment: the board ratified a $3,046.45 Miracle Ford quote to remove and replace the water pump on a 2017 Explorer; ratified purchase of a Lenovo ThinkPad replacement computer for the township treasurer for $1,351.70; and approved purchase of two 13-inch iPads (128GB) plus OtterBox cases, chargers and FirstNet monthly cost for a total of $2,197.82 for Code Enforcement/Zoning. The minutes show motions and roll-call approval for these items.
Other motions recorded: authorize advertising for 2025–2026 winter snow-removal bids (motion passed); schedule 2026 budget meetings for four October dates (Oct. 8, 15, 22, 29, 3:00–5:00 p.m.); approve budgeting up to $750 for Halloween and updating donated Christmas decorations; and authorize sale of old municipal office desks on Craigslist for under $2,000. The board tabled award of bids for the transfer station ramp project.
The minutes list transfer station bulk amounts and administrative statistics for August, including bulk amount $1,720 for August and year-to-date total $8,002, permit counts and Right-to-Know request tallies.
