Rothschild sets $20 temporary sign fee and approves nine wayfinding signs paid with tourism dollars

The Rothschild Village Board on Aug. 26 approved a $20 flat fee for temporary sign permits and approved a contract for nine wayfinding signs to be paid from tourism funds.

Zoning Coordinator Rebekka Borchardt proposed adding a $20 temporary-sign fee to the existing sign-permit process, allowing one temporary sign per lot and crediting the $20 toward a later permanent sign fee of $50 per sign face if the applicant applies for a permanent permit. The board approved the fee by unanimous vote (motion Ehster/Helgeson; carried 7–0).

Administrator Ryan VanDeWalle described a previously reviewed wayfinding sign design and said installation could be completed this year, timed with the opening of the new Greenheck Turner facility. The board approved the bid from Finishing Touch Signs for nine signs and metal poles, to be paid from tourism dollars (motion Schremp/Mortensen; carried 7–0).

Why it matters: the temporary-sign fee sets a predictable minor revenue and administrative standard for short-term signage; the wayfinding signs are positioned as an economic-development and visitor-orientation tool tied to a local facility opening and park access.
