At the April 30 meeting, the Spencer City Council unanimously awarded the City Park stage contract to Valley Windows & Doors for $18,950 after receiving four bids. Alderman Jill Bouldin moved to accept the Valley Windows & Doors bid and Alderman David Chandler seconded; the roll call vote was unanimous.
Separately, the council approved an additional $2,500 to supplement the existing $1,857.38 in playground funds to purchase additional equipment and sand. The council approved purchase of a deluxe fort tower from Sloping Ridge Structure for $4,205. Vice Mayor Drew Campbell moved to approve the additional funds and Alderman David Chandler seconded; the motion passed with all members voting yes.
Alderman Jill Bouldin told colleagues she views park improvements as an important community asset. City staff did not report any changes to timing or start dates for the projects at the meeting.
