Public Works Administrator Timothy Vergara told the board the Upper Schmidt Avenue Reconstruction (George Street to Leon Street) had been left about 60% complete in 2020 when project scope shifted and underground utility concerns prompted design changes. Vergara said he asked engineering firm Becher Hoppe to revisit the project and provide a proposal to complete design and bidding.
Becher Hoppe submitted a proposal for $42,750 to finish design and prepare bid documents with the intent of a January–February 2025 bid opening. Vergara recommended approval for 2025 construction. The board approved the design/bid services with a motion by Trustee Bill Schremp, seconded by Trustee Dan Helgeson; the motion carried 6–0.
The authorization directs staff and the consultant to complete design and pursue a winter 2025 bid schedule; the board did not discuss funding sources for construction at this meeting.
