Administrator Ryan VanDeWalle told the Village of Rothschild Board on July 22 that he had negotiated draft terms with cell tower companies offering $1,350 per month, a 2% annual escalator and a one-time $10,000 donation to the village in exchange for a proposed 50-year lease. VanDeWalle asked the board whether to proceed with drafting the contract.
The board voted to move forward and present a contract reflecting those terms. The motion was made by Trustee Dan Helgeson and seconded by Trustee Bill Schremp and carried 6–0.
VanDeWalle framed the $10,000 as a one-time donation the village could allocate as it chooses and described the monthly rent and annual escalator as the negotiated financial terms. The motion authorizes staff to prepare a draft contract for board review; no final lease was signed at the meeting.
The action leaves open later steps for legal review and formal adoption of any lease; the board did not set a date for final approval. The board took no additional public comment on the item during the meeting.
