The Hallock City Council approved several community-event requests and permits at its Aug. 4 meeting, including permanent electrical service for the annual Ribfest, event permits and donations.
Councilors voted to install two permanent exterior electrical outlets at City Hall to support Ribfest and related events; the city agreed to pay the full installation cost of $3,165. Resolution 2025-21, approving the Ribfest community festival, passed on a motion from Councilor Peterson that was seconded by Councilor Larson.
The council also approved a gambling permit for KC Trap and a temporary liquor permit for the Hallock Eagles for Aug. 23, 2025. In addition, council unanimously accepted donations under Resolution 2025-22.
Jake Hook updated the council on a proposal from KIDSon Cares to add an electric scoreboard at Gilbert Olson baseball/softball field. Hook said a former Hallock resident pledged $2,500 toward a $10,000 project goal and the group proposed renaming the field the Rod Olson Memorial Field in honor of a longtime coach; the council received the proposal and donation request for future consideration.
