The Hallock City Council on July 7 approved payment of listed city bills and a payroll transfer and awarded two EDA grants to downtown businesses.
Administrator Kendra Kroening presented the Budget-to-Actual report and the list of bills to be paid. Councilor Jen Peterson moved to authorize payment of checks and electronic transfers (Total Check Amount: $274,699.45 AF; $35,898.43 UVB; Payroll transfer $56,771.91). Councilor Mike Totleben seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
The council also approved two Economic Development Authority grants. Councilor Mike Totleben moved to award a $3,500 grant to Craft Brewhaus and a $5,000 grant to Hotel Hallock; Councilor Kevin Waller seconded the motion and it carried. Mayor David Treumer and Councilor Totleben were assigned to review bills for the August meeting.
Why it matters: the approved payments cover routine operations and payroll; the grants are modest, targeted assistance intended to support local businesses.
Votes at a glance: Authorization to pay listed city bills and payroll transfers — motion by Peterson, second Totleben, carried (unanimous). EDA grants — motion by Totleben, second Waller, carried (unanimous).
What’s next: Kroening will provide follow-up materials to the council as needed and the mayor and Councilor Totleben will review August bills before the next meeting.
