The Town of Essex approved two funding measures at a special town meeting July 1, adopting a $223,000 supplemental appropriation for Public Works operations to the 2025–26 budget and authorizing up to $80,000 from the Police Equipment Sinking Fund for a new police vehicle, the meeting record shows.
The session was called to order at 4:55 p.m. by Norman Needleman. Moderator Stacia Libby was elected for the meeting, and Town Clerk Caitlin Riley read the call of the meeting; the record notes seven people in attendance.
The first motion brought before the meeting, described in the record as recommended and approved by the Board of Finance, was: "To consent and approve a supplemental appropriation to the 2025-2026 Town of Essex Budget in the amount of $223,000.00 for the Public Works Operations."
