Residents press Rothschild board on roundabout speeding; board later meets in closed session on property negotiations

Two residents raised speeding concerns at the village roundabout during the public-comment period at the Jan. 13 Village Board meeting and asked the board for guidance and action.
Bob Beck of 2312 Weston Avenue suggested installing sand barriers or a speed display device and adding advance signage, including a 'yield ahead' sign. Jay Schoenborn of 2402 Weston Avenue also described what he said was excessive speeding near the roundabout throughout the day and asked the board for advice. Trustees Deb Ehster and Paul Kennedy requested that the issue be included on an upcoming board meeting agenda for further discussion.
Later in the meeting, the board moved into closed session under Wis. Stat. § 19.85(1)(e) at 7:52 p.m. to deliberate or negotiate the purchase or sale of public property and other bargaining matters. The roll-call vote to enter closed session was unanimous. The board reconvened in open session at 8:56 p.m. and by motion authorized the village administrator to move forward with items discussed in closed session; that motion carried 7–0.
The minutes record the board’s direction to staff but do not specify the property or the details of closed-session negotiations in the public minutes. The administrator will take the authorized next steps and report back to the board when appropriate.
